Egoless Engineering

It shouldn’t be a radical act because results are better if we can cooperate. And life is better without cult leaders.
How do we tear down parochialism and ego?
Programmer as wizard, programmer as engineer
https://www.tedinski.com/2018/03/20/wizarding-vs-engineering.html
Are we just trying to solve a problem quickly, or are we trying to build a robust solution? I got into programming at least in part because it seemed like the closest thing to magic that really exists. So I’m going to call these two distinct styles wizarding and engineering.

Puppet Quick Tip: Enabling an Apache module | Snowulf
http://snowulf.com/2012/04/05/puppet-quick-tip-enabling-an-apache-module/
My solution is as close to a “one liner” as it gets in puppet. You just check to see if the symlink for the loaded module exists and if it doesn’t, run a2enmod. Of course it’ll double check to make sure Apache gets restarted too.

Juju is DevOps DistilledTM. Through the use of charms, juju provides you with shareable, re-usable, and repeatable expressions of DevOps best practices. You can use them unmodified, or easily change and connect them to fit your needs. Deploying a charm is similar to installing a package on Ubuntu: ask for it and it’s there, remove it and it’s completely gone.
