Synology as a NUT client | Synology Community

https://community.synology.com/enu/forum/1/post/149169
I see a NUT configuration in /usr/syno/etc/ups. The DSM configuration UI only lets you set the IP of the NUT server; the UPS name is hardcoded to "ups", the username is hardcoded to "monuser" and password to "secret". I renamed my UPS on my NUT server and added the monuser user, and now the Diskstation logs into upsd as a slave OK.

Mass quitting Apple

The biggest win? I own my identity now. My email address is on my domain. My files are on my server. My passwords are in my vault. If any single service disappears tomorrow, I can move. That's the freedom I was looking for.

Simple automated deployments using git push

https://garrido.io/notes/simple-automated-deployments-git-push/
Using git push remains one of my favorite ways of deploying software. It’s simple, effective, and you can stretch it significantly until you need more complex workflows. I’m not referring to using git push to trigger a Github action which builds and deploys software. I’m talking about using git push web main to deploy your main branch to a server that you’ve named web.

Dotfiles with make

https://www.matheusmoreira.com/articles/managing-dotfiles-with-make
Make is an old tool, an assembly language of sorts for build systems. Many have tried to replace it. Many have tried to reinvent it. Most people prefer to avoid it if at all possible. So why use it to manage dotfiles of all things?

"If you use a source control system (CVS, SVN, ...), or want to publish your application on the web, it may be a good idea to move sensitive or machine/user specific settings like database passwords and such out of the main settings.py file. "
