The thing is… it is made to run on an ESP12, which is very capable and very power efficient, but tends not to allow for external antennas and doesn’t have great WiFi range. I wanted more range. I want an external antenna. And I have a few spare ESP32’s sitting around that allow for external antennas and have better WiFi performance. So, I decided to try to port the firmware from the ESP12 to the ESP32.
