Mamdani undeniably has a lot of personal charisma, but the concepts that elevated his campaign can be replicated across the country: Bold ideas that draw attention, and that ideally anger the very people your voters don’t like. Such campaigns should emphasize outreach over fundraising, while being assisted by social media methods that allow the candidates to circumvent the usual gatekeepers to get their message out. They should remember the invaluable lesson of treating conflict as an opportunity to get attention, rather than something to run away from due to the fear of alienating jumpy donors. The establishment may not like it, because it’s a threat to their personal power. But if Democrats want to get their groove back, it will have to be through tactics like this.

The infantile response from the NYPD and the unions that represent it is not worthy of it. It is hardly worthy of a schoolyard bully who can't believe he's finally been called on his bullshit.

The exhibition Brian Froud: Visions for Film & Faerie opens Dec. 2 at the Animazing Gallery in SoHo, New York. In addition to all the Dark Crystal art, there's a site-specific installation — and Wendy Froud has recreated Kira, Dark Crystal's Gelfling, for the exhibition. Kira stands 33 inches tall and was sculpted using hair and beading from the original film production.

"Others attend hoping to meet venture capitalists; some are just attracted to a night life that involves actually talking to creative people doing exciting things, rather than heading out to clubs and bars that beat you into silence with their thundering rhythms. "

"The idea of building competitors to Twitter on the same platform, or redistributing Twitter to multiple players reminds me of the idea that New York City should be rebuilt in Ohio because it would be cheaper."

"There's nothing wrong with taking a break, but during the business day, at your desk, that's not appropriate behavior." Jesus. Remind me never to work for Bloomberg.
