I hotreload Rust and so can you | Kampffrosch's blog

What I really want is to use Rust as a scripting language that I can hotreload. Even if its just for development. This way the API would stay simple, types could be shared directly and marshalling costs either don’t exist or are minimal.

And this is exactly what I am going to show how to set up now.

Tags: #gamedev #rust

Ratatui (ˌræ.təˈtu.i) is a Rust crate for cooking up terminal user interfaces (TUIs). It provides a simple and flexible way to create text-based user interfaces in the terminal, which can be used for command-line applications, dashboards, and other interactive console programs.

Tags: #ratatui #rust #tui

Rust, Python, and TypeScript: the new trifecta · baby steps

But of course programmers have evolved a way to cope with human’s narrow focus: type systems, and particularly advanced type systems. Basic type systems catch small mistakes, like arguments of the wrong type. But more advanced type systems, like the ones in Rust and TypeScript, also capture domain knowledge and steer you down a path of success: using a Rust enum, for example, captures both which state your program is in and the data that is relevant to that state. This means that you can’t accidentally read a field that isn’t relevant at the moment. This is important for you, but it’s even more important for your AI collaborator(s), because they don’t have the comprehensive memory that you do, and are quite unlikely to remember those kind of things.

Tags: #ai #codegen #llms #python #rust #types #typescript

Why I use WebAssembly - nasso

Finally, we reach the juicy part. My favorite way to use WebAssembly is as a way to share code between platforms. Write the core logic of your application in Ru… a language that can easily compile to native code and WebAssembly 😊. In this architecture, most of your code is shared between the “native” and the “web” variants of your app. Maybe some platform-specific features will need to be turned on or off with compile-time flags, but if you’re building a cross-platform app, you are probably already dealing with different code paths for different platforms anyway. With WebAssembly, the web just becomes another platform to target!

Tags: #rust #wasm #webdev

A Gentle Introduction to WebAssembly in Rust (2025 Edition) - DEV Community

So in this guide we’ll walk through setting up the tooling and development environment for building and using WebAssembly in Rust, embedding it in a TypeScript project, review how communication between TypeScript and Rust can happen, then finally how you can debug your WebAssembly directly in the browser and/or your favorite IDE. I will use Visual Studio Code as the IDE and Chrome as the browser, but apart from some debugging options, you can reproduce these in your tool of choice.

Tags: #dev #rust #wasm

Advent of Code on the Nintendo DS

The problem with Advent of Code is that it is a waste of time. Most of the puzzles are in the realm of either string processing (somewhat applicable to programming), logic puzzles (not really applicable to most programming), or stupid gotchas in the input format (annoyingly, very applicable to most programming). So to combat this a lot of people use Advent of Code as an excuse to learn a new programming language that they wouldn't otherwise have a reason to use.

Tags: #dev #hacks #retro #rust
