Burr Oak Software

"M3U2iTunes is a helper application which overcomes the problems iTunes has with m3u playlists. iTunes, when downloading an m3u playlist, places all songs scattered throughout the main library (rather than, say, creating a playlist and organizing the stream tracks in it). M3U2iTunes simply creates a single playlist named "M3U Internet Stream" and places all songs from the downloaded m3u playlist into the M3U Internet Stream playlist."

Tags: #ampache #itunes #m3u #macosx #mp3 #music

New iTunes LP and Extras built using TuneKit Framework, aimed at Apple TV — RoughlyDrafted Magazine

"Now look at how iTunes Extras are built: while distributed as a single file, the item is really a bundle (a folder that Mac OS X treats as a file) that amounts to a self-contained web site. It acts as a container for folders of standard PNG and JPEG graphics, AAC audio, and H.264 video content together with HTML and CSS presentation and JavaScript code. The index.html page contained in iTunes Extra bundles references TuneKit Core, a JavaScripts framework that presents a foundation for working with basic TuneKit objects. TuneKit Views present additional code for building a user interface and event handling, such as keyboard navigation and mouse input. Controllers define what is displayed in the user interface and how. The whole ball of wax is built within the TK namespace."

Tags: #apple #appletv #itunes #ituneslp #webdev

Some Notes On iTunes LP · Jay Robinson

"The iTunes LP experience is accomplished with HTML 4.01, CSS and JS. The interface feels very Flash-like, but there is no trace of it. The CSS animations are elaborate and smooth. ... As a music fan, and as a web developer, I couldn’t be more pleased with the new iTunes LP offering. If your audience is significantly Apple-oriented (e.g. a site about Mac rumors or a popular iPhone app) this proves that you can provide an incredible experience using only JavaScript and some proposed CSS3 properties."

Tags: #css #html #itunes #javascript #music #webdev #webkit

iTunes music: The cost of removing Apple’s copy protection - Apple 2.0

"Leave it to Apple (AAPL) to turn the lifting of restrictions into a profit center. If users convert every one of the 9 billion songs purchased from the iTunes Store over the past six years, a rich new revenue stream will flow toward Cupertino. Techcrunch’s Erick Schonfeld calls it Apple’s “$1.8 billion music tax.”"

Tags: #apple #audio #drm #itms #itunes #music

"This is extremely exciting for me. One of the hardest things I've had to deal with in my career is keeping my material topical even though I only release albums every 3 or 4 years. Now, with the advent and popularity of digital distribution, I don't have to wait around while my songs get old and dated – I can get them out on the Internet almost immediately. It kind of boggles my mind – I thought of the idea for this new song a week ago, and next week it's getting released! "

Tags: #for:missadroit #itunes #music #nifty #weirdal #yankovic
