Irreducible

Anyways… I’ve reached the point that my VM is fully compliant with version 2.0 of the WebAssembly core specification, and I need a large program to stress test it with. The obvious choice for this sort of thing is a DOOM port. For those unaware, DOOM runs on just about every computing environment under the sun. For every calculator, satellite, or turing-complete system, there’s likely a software engineer theorizing about how to get DOOM running on it.

Tags: #doom #vm #wasm

You know the 1993 classic DOOM? I made it run on an earbud, then I connected it to the internet and made it possible for visitors like you to sit in a queue for hours play the game remotely!.

Tags: #diy #doom #electronics #gaming #hacks #tech

Compute@Edge: porting the iconic video game DOOM | Fastly

Due to its approachable codebase and clean abstractions, id Software’s DOOM has become one of the most ported games in history. It felt like a perfect project to port to Compute@Edge, built on our serverless compute environment, to experiment with different applications of the product.

Tags: #doom #imported:pinboard #serverless

Was playing Doom the other day and was reminded of this effect. I wanted to give it a shot using js and canvas of course.
DOOM for Intellivision

"I finally got around to porting the freely available DOOM source code to the Intellivision. I will be posting the source code for the Intellivision version soon. The ROM image, weighing in at 32K words, is probably the largest cartridge ROM image out there. So for now, enjoy these screen shots and the game binary below! "

Tags: #doom #gaming #hacks #intellivision #nifty
