The Dead Battery Society

"Several arcade game manufacturers decided it would be a good idea to put a battery on their game boards that, when they die (and they will die), disable the game. Why they did this isn't exactly clear. Usually the way suicide batteries work is, the batteries supply power to a bit of RAM that holds a decryption table. This table is the key to decrypting the encrypted program stored in the board's ROMs. When the battery dies, this table goes away and the program code can no longer be decrypted. The CPU no longer has valid code to execute. The board stops working."

Tags: #arcade #capcom #electronics #odd #sega #suicidebattery

Street Fighter IV Announced news from 1UP.com

"The short teaser is nothing more than some Ryu and Ken stylized artwork of them fighting, with no word on what platforms the game is coming to or a projected release date. Clearly, Capcom is strictly teasing at this point."

Tags: #capcom #gaming #streetfighter #streetfighter4

"While driving home the point in honour of our other multi-game movie, Baxter and AngerFist prove that Capcom really has been making the same game over and over again by playing Mega Man 3, 4, 5 and 6 using the same input."

Tags: #capcom #gaming #megaman #nes #videos

"The engine is very powerful and flexible, allowing for the same type of functionality found in most any commercial 2D fighting game, such as the Street Fighter games produced by Capcom or the King of Fighters games produced by SNK."

Tags: #capcom #gaming #mugen #snk
