Matt Mechtley is responsible for this maker’s dream project: getting a classic Nintendo Power Glove to work with custom games by replacing it’s brain with an arduino, implanting an accelerometer for motion detection, and using a bluetooth modem for wireless connectivity. He’s outdone himself with downloadable code, schematics, this awesome video, and an Instructable to top it off.

Tags: #arduino #bluetooth #gaming #hacks #imported:pinboard #nintendo #powerglove

Coffee Table MAME Console — DIY How-to from Make: Projects

Oftentimes makers will build MAME cabinets that resemble old-time arcade games, but ultimately they’re just PCs with buttons and joysticks wired in. With the Coffee Table MAME Console, we’re going to build a stripped-down version of the arcade machine. It doesn’t need a monitor because you can use your TV, and instead of having the computer inside the enclosure, the console connects to your PC via Bluetooth.

Tags: #arduino #bluetooth #diy #gaming

Folded Toad Froth: Linksys WRT54G with bluetooth console access

My prefered solution for general router console access is via a Bluetooth connection. This Bluetooth connectivity is provided with a Bluetooth module such as the "BlueSMiRF" module sold by SparkFun (see note below). The Bluetooth connection is based on the SPP/RFCOMM profiles which this module supports. Access from Windows, Macs, and Linux systems quite easy. I use hyperterm on Windows-based systems and minicom on Linux-based systems.

Tags: #bluetooth #hacks #linksys #routers #wrt54g
