I don't like LLMs

One of my most successful life-hacks is to avoid people I don’t like or don’t trust. I decline to interact with them socially, and make a deliberate effort to avoid working with them too, even if they are doing much that is beneficial. I feel that hanging out with pleasant, capable people, the people with integrity, has made my life a far better one. Hence my visceral dislike of interacting with an LLM that’s not just making a pretense of being human, but also posing as the kind of human I walk away from.

Tags: #agents #ai #codegen #llms

The asteroid currently hitting frontend web development | Read the Tea Leaves

Meanwhile, Cursor and Viget have blogged about migrating their codebases from Solid and Lit, respectively, to React. Since rewrites are less expensive with agents, this may be a bit surprising: why not move to the more performant/less verbose framework? The answer (explicitly in Cursor’s case, and I suspect for Viget as well) is of course: “the agents know React.” For better or worse, React is heavily overrepresented in the training weights, and “agent experience” is starting to matter more than developer experience.

Tags: #agents #ai #llms #webdev

Why shaming people about AI slop isn’t enough to stop Big AI - Anil Dash

This is the kind of solution that most AI critics are not allowing for right now when they only picture a shame-based corrective to individual people’s use of AI. It is possible to build human-centric, empowering tools and platforms that are owned by the people instead of by billionaire tycoons, that are responsible about the environment and with people’s data and privacy, that are accountable to the communities that they serve. If we engaged every person who made some AI slop and said, “would you rather have tools that help you make something amazing, and brought you into a community of creators?” I don’t think anybody would say no.

Tags: #agents #ai #codegen #llms

Introducing Kitesurf: The agent-first browser that runs in V8 isolates on Cloudflare Workers | Cloudflare Blog

What follows is the story of how we built it. Buckle up, it’s going to get technical — but we promise to keep it interesting.

Tags: #agents #ai #browsers #webdev

About an hour later, once it became clear to me that the web app I had launched using Claude was strikingly similar to his open source project, even reproducing a bug he had later fixed, it was clear that there wasn’t anything to do except to redirect the domain directly to him and kill any plans I had to launch an iOS app for the project.

Tags: #agents #ai #claude #llms

intuition-probe: let an LLM hallucinate the API/UX it expects, then conform your design to the guess. Companion to 'Complicated Thoughts On LLMs' (theocharis.dev)

Use when you want to know what shape a developer or user reaches for when they first meet your API, config format, CLI, or UI, so you can make your design that shape. Spawns a blind agent that commits the design it EXPECTS before seeing the real thing, then reports the shape they reached for and conform-first recommendations (make the API whatever the guess is).
Astro's GitHub issue backlog is heading to zero for the first time in 5 years. Now Cloudflare is open-sourcing the tool that did it. - The New Stack

LLMs reward expertise

The usefulness of domain knowledge suggests that human expertise will continue to be useful even as models get stronger. For many tasks, the human is the bottleneck, not the model, because the difficult part is in communicating to the model exactly what kind of solution the human wants. The information is “in the model” already, but it takes a very smart human to pull it out.

Tags: #agents #codegen #dev #llms

Anyone Can Build - Stuart Parmenter

That, I’ve come to think, is the sharpest frame available for what AI is doing to software. Anyone can build now. That is not the same as everyone building something that lasts. The distance between those two sentences is the subject of this essay.

Tags: #agents #ai #codegen #llms
