I don’t know why, and I don’t know that I would have chosen acting if I’d been supported rather than controlled and manipulated. But I do know that when I am in a cast, when I am preparing a role, when I am discovering moments in rehearsal, and when we are putting it all together on the set, on the stage, or in a sound booth, it just feels right. It’s a place where I fit. And if I’m going to choose to be there, I will make that choice for me, to make me happy or satisfied or even just healed. I won’t make that choice from a reactive place.
